2025 Wrapped | Nancy Fire Design
As the year comes to a close, I’ve been taking a moment to reflect on everything it held.
It truly feels like one of those chapters that leaves you both energized and deeply grateful. This year was full of movement, discovery, and connection, and looking back, I’m reminded just how much inspiration can come from saying yes to new places, new ideas, and new conversations.
Travel was a major thread woven throughout the year. From Greece, Amsterdam, Paris, and St. Maarten to California, Charleston, Dallas, Palm Beach, and High Point, each destination offered its own perspective. Whether it was a quiet moment abroad, a bustling design show, or a local shop discovery, every stop added something meaningful to my creative process.
One of the most fulfilling through lines of the year was my continued column with Home Accents Today, “Products with Purpose.” Month after month, I had the opportunity to spotlight brands and products that are sustainable, non-toxic, ethically produced, and accessible. As a long-time advocate for responsible design, this work is especially close to my heart. I truly believe that beautiful interiors should be built on products that respect both people and the planet. Sharing these stories in the February, March, May, July, August, and September issues was both an honor and a reminder of how much positive change is happening within our industry.
Trend scouting remained a constant source of inspiration. This year, I created several trend boards that captured the spirit of what I was seeing across shows and travels. Boards like Surrealism, Mother Nature’s Color Palette, The Colors of Greece, and Earth Tones explored the emotional power of color, materiality, and form. Each board became a way to translate visual moments into broader design narratives.
Industry events also played a significant role in shaping the year. At High Point Market, I identified five standout trends and had the pleasure of a thoughtful interview with Allison Zisko of Home Accents Today. ICFF offered a beautiful look at Brazilian furniture design, highlighting craftsmanship and artistry on a global scale. Maison & Objet in Paris inspired me with three standout trends that I later shared in Home Accents Today, and BDNY closed out the year with an energizing mix of creativity, texture, and innovative materials.
In between the travel and trade shows, I found grounding moments at home tending to Fire Farm. Spending time in my garden, growing food and flowers, brought a sense of balance and reminded me that inspiration does not always come from far away. Sometimes it starts right in your own backyard.
As I look ahead, I do so with gratitude. For the opportunities, for the collaborations, for the continued work with Home Accents Today, and for this community that follows along and engages so thoughtfully. This year was full, meaningful, and deeply inspiring, and I’m excited to see what the next chapter brings.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
