A Palm Beach Design Gem
Last month, I had the chance to spend a few days in Palm Beach, soaking in the sunshine, exploring the area’s design stores, and finding inspiration in the details that set this community apart. Palm Beach has always had its own design language filled with charm, color, and a sense of effortless luxury, but on this trip, one place stood out above the rest: The Hive, Home Gift & Garden.
The moment I walked through the doors, I knew this store was something special. The Hive isn’t just a shop. It is a design world of its own. A whimsical blend of bedding, home décor, tabletop, gifts, a bakery and café, and even a creative studio space. Every corner feels thoughtfully curated, joyful, and full of personality. It is the kind of place that invites you to slow down, take everything in, and appreciate how beautifully design can intersect with everyday living.

What impressed me even more was learning about the woman behind it all: Sara McCann, CEO, founder, interior designer, and visionary. Sara has built far more than a store. She has built an 8-business design empire that has become a defining part of the Palm Beach community.
The Hive Collective began in 2013 with the opening of Hive Home, Gift & Garden. Since then, it has expanded to include Hive for Her, Him & Kids, as well as the Hive Bakery & Café. Each business has its own distinct personality yet maintains the same warm, welcoming, and artfully curated spirit that Sara is known for. Her eye for detail and genuine love for design are evident in every piece, every vignette, and every experience her team creates.
What is even more remarkable is how Hive has helped transform the surrounding Dixie Highway area into what is now the thriving Norton Dining and Design District. Sara’s influence is visible not just inside her stores but across the broader Palm Beach landscape. Her vision has shaped a destination where design lovers, locals, and visitors gather to be inspired.
Walking through Hive, I found myself appreciating not only the product, but the story… the story of a woman entrepreneur who turned her creative passion into a community anchor. Sara has built something meaningful, something lasting, and something that truly reflects the joy of great design.
If you find yourself in Palm Beach, The Hive is an absolute must-visit. You will leave feeling inspired, energized, and maybe even carrying a beautiful piece home with you.
I know I did.
