Summer in Greece: Beauty, Tradition, and Togetherness
This summer, we had the incredible opportunity to spend a few unforgettable weeks in Greece. What began as a trip to celebrate a close family friend’s wedding turned into a soul-filling family vacation, one of those rare and special stretches of time where life slows down and every moment feels intentional.
SIFNOS
We started our journey in Athens, taking in the ancient city’s energy and rhythm before hopping on a boat to Sifnos. This island, one of the hidden gems of the Cyclades, instantly stole our hearts. It was a haven of natural beauty—bougainvillea in full bloom, goats lazily wandering the hills, and tiny whitewashed chapels perched above the sea. Our days were filled with simple pleasures: morning swims, seaside strolls, and long, laughter-filled meals that stretched into the evening.
Karpathos
Next, we traveled to Karpathos, where the wedding was held. It’s one of the most remote islands I’ve ever been to… and perhaps that’s what makes it feel so magical. The island pulses with tradition and authenticity, and nowhere is that more evident than in Olympos, a breathtaking village recognized as a world heritage site. We were lucky enough to spend a day there, marveling at the women dressed in traditional Greek attire and soaking in the village’s timeless charm.
But beyond the stunning landscapes, historic sites, and idyllic beaches, it was the gatherings that made this trip so meaningful. Sharing meals with my husband and kids, connecting with new and old friends, and experiencing the legendary Greek hospitality made every day feel like a celebration.
Some of my favorite memories were made around the table, laughing, tasting, and storytelling. Whether in a bustling taverna or a quiet village home, we were welcomed with open arms and full plates. That sense of belonging and connection is what I’ll carry with me long after the sunburn fades.
Greece reminded me how important it is to slow down, explore the unfamiliar, and cherish the people we love. I’m already dreaming of our next visit.
