I love wandering into the little storefronts near me and seeing exactly what makes people stop, browse, and fall in love with a piece they didn't know they needed. Eastern Long Island has no shortage of charm, but two boutiques in particular have completely captured my attention lately. They are quite different from one another, and that is exactly why I wanted to write about them together!
Market Lane: Where Prep School Meets Poetry
My first stop was Market Lane, a beautiful new beach shop that just opened in the Hamptons. The second I walked in, I understood the vibe immediately: this is a lifestyle boutique for anyone who lives somewhere between structure and spirit, equal parts prep school and poetry. It is effortless style at its finest, a true fusion of East Coast prep and bohemian ease.
Brought to Quogue with so much love by Colleen Hofer, Market Lane mixes tailored silhouettes with earthy textures in a way that feels completely intentional. Every piece balances refinement and wanderlust, and every detail is curated to speak to both classic taste and free spirited sophistication. It is the kind of shop where a crisp linen shirt sits comfortably next to a woven straw tote, and it all just works.
I went in looking for gifts and left completely delighted. The shop is filled with elevated gifts with a twist of wander, and I found a myriad of items perfect for gifting, from thoughtful little treasures to statement pieces. I loved the mix of pattern and color throughout the shop. The best gifts carry a story and feel timeless, and that is exactly what you will find here. Jen Going Interiors: Natural Beauty, Locally Made
Just around the corner, nestled in the heart of Quogue, is Jen Going Interiors. This shop specializes in sharing the simplicity and natural beauty of Eastern Long Island through a thoughtful selection of home furnishings, textiles, accessories, and full scale interior design services. Walking through, you can feel how connected the space is to the landscape around it. Everything feels calm, natural, and rooted in place.
One of my absolute favorite finds in the shop was Kathy Eisler's ceramic vases. The white vases with the little faces are so charming, and they add such an artisanal touch to any shelf or tabletop. There is something wonderful about bringing home a piece that clearly has a maker's hand behind it.
While I was there, I got to chat with Annie, one of the sales associates, who I learned creates the shop's mussel shell decoupage artwork herself. These little pieces would be perfect for holding jewelry or small trinkets on a dresser or entryway table. I always love seeing that kind of creativity up close, especially when it is produced locally and finished with such whimsical patterns. It is a reminder that some of the best design work is happening right in our own backyard.
