A Celebration of Sculptural Design
After an inspiring week in Paris at MAISON&OBJET, I created a new mood board I am calling Dynamic Dimension. This trend celebrates sculptural surroundings that bring both artistry and whimsy into everyday life.
The focus is on three-dimensional ceramic vessels that range from fluid, organic shapes to playful, conversation-starting designs. There is a wonderful sense of character in these forms, as if each one tells its own story. Decorative elements featuring birds, fish, owls, mushrooms, flowers, and fruits highlight the beauty of nature and the joy found in the details of flora and fauna.
One brand that stood out to me in this category is Bordallo Pinheiro. Creating since 1884, this Portuguese company has become a favorite among decorators, architects, and design enthusiasts around the world. Their originality comes from ancestral techniques mastered by talented craftsmen skilled in modeling, painting, sculpture, and ornamentation. These distinctive qualities, rooted in generations of artistry, can be seen in the banana bowl and lemon jug featured on the board.
What I love most about this trend is how it reminds us that creativity can transform functional objects into artful expressions. These pieces bring joy and character into a space, showing that design can be both meaningful and fun, full of personality and storytelling.
